My first time visit to Goa, experts please help me with more information?

I am just planning a trip and I would like to know
transport facility and hotels in Goa

I have heard that Goa airport is some way far from city
so what's the cheapest transport from airport

And if I am coming by train where is the nearest railway station close to Panjim city

Any specific hotels in Goa to save cost

Transport facilities are good

The taxi's are fair and reliable , from the airport its approx 700 rupees to the main resort of Calangute / Baga
Its probably the only / best way of getting there!

The train station is called Thivim and is nearer but not that close - you would still have to arrange a taxi

The hotel prices vary - cheaper in Panjim than Calangute , but if you ask around you will get an idea of prices and not be ripped off!!!

I knew someone who was charged rs2000 + for an avarage room per night and it wasn't even high season! ( Dec/Jan )

I would say don't pay more than rs800 per night

I paid rs300 per night for a whole apartment with living room , tv , balcony , seperate bedroom and shower with hot water!
But i did stay 6 months - the shorter you stay the more it is

The best way in Goa is when you get there - ask around - everyone is very helpful - you may be better off asking the tourists then the locals.....as money definitely talks!!!

Oh yeah.....and the prices rise drastically the nearer to Christmas / New Year you get

I am going out there in November and the most I want to pay is around rs400 per night for an apartment , the same one i had before but as I said I think Panjim is cheaper
