Passport...?

Me & a couple of my friends are planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas in early November, the only problem is they both dont have passports, & my dad got my passport for me a few years ago so i have no idea how the process goes. How exactly do they go about getting a passport, where do they go? how much does it cost? how long does it take?

Also do you think if they apply for their passport in March, they will get it in enough time for our November trip?

First, you need to make sure your passport is current. They need to be renewed every 7 years, I believe. Your friends, if they do the paperwork for their passports now, will definitely have them by the time you leave in November. It can take up to 8 weeks but sometimes you get them earlier.

My passport only took like 8 weeks to get it. You have to go to the court house to get it. Where I live, you have to go to a local Walgreens/CVS and get photo made for the passport and then bring them with you to the courthouse. There you will have to fill out an application and pay. The application has a lot of detailed questions so you should bring any personal papers with you to help you fill them out... If this confused you (haha) just go to the court house and tell them you need to purchase a passport and need to know what you need to do in order to get one ;-) Hope I helped a little!

You can also go to a post office to get your passport, but you have to make sure they have passport services first (as not all of them do). It doesn't take that long to get, and you definitely have enough time if you get it now. You just have to fill in an application form and pay (not sure how much it is now)

Passports dont' expire for ten years, so yours should be fine as well.

yes, that is enough time. Dont worry but get your passport it may not be expired yet. costs about 100$ , you will need SSN#, Original Birth Certificate, 2 pictures, Drivers license or Valid ID or expired passport

Hello, I am an acceptance agent in Minnesota for the passport agency. They will either have to go to a post office that takes the applications or go to an acceptance agency in your area click on the link and enter your zipcode and it will locate the nearest acceptance agency.

also your friends will get them by november if they apply now because it is only taking 6 weeks at the most for reg processing. It will be $100 for ages 16 and older and $85 for 15 and under in addition to the photos. Most acceptance agencies take photos at an additional price. Now you can bring your own photos as long as they are 2 x 2 with a white background. Costco, wallgreens and other places do them.
They will need a state id or drivers license and a certified birth certificate that will accompany the application but then will be returned with their new passport. Depending on their age, if they are 16-17 one parent will need to go with them, under 16 both parents will need to go with them.
