How old do you have to be to carry a cigarette lighter?

I'm 16 and going off camping. On some websites it says "not for sale to anyone under the age of 18" for lighters. I need one to light my gas cooker etc. Does anyone know what the age limit to cary one is?

there is no legal age limit as long as you being a juvernile have a ligitimate reason ie your camping stove. The police will not cause you any bother and the law applies to people buying items which are associated with smoking etc. The fact you have one already and using it for camping is completly legal OK mate, go have a good time and dont worry

I think its 18. But im sure matches are fine

i think its 16 but it might have changed to 18 with the smoking age changes
if you only have a lighter on you and not ciggarettes then you'll be okay
especially if your not evening using it for smoking
if your worried then buy a cooker lighter instead

I'm 15 and I carry them all the time. I think it varries from place to place. I wasn't able to buy them anywhere but Safeway.

some places wont let you buy one if you arent 18 but you cant get in trouble for having one with you.
but if you take it to school they can take it away..thats what happened to a few of us

I work in a shop and the legal age for both lighters and matches is 18 I am afraid.

You have to be 18 to buy fags and lighters as there smoking materials you can get special camping lighters or use matches most big stores will not sell you lighters unless you have ID.

You have to be 18 to smoke and if your buying lighters they think your smoking.
