Im thinking of going to ireland for a weekend, but i dont have a passport. do i need one?

im going from england to ireland, but i dont have a passport, and my drivinig license hasnt come through yet, and im going on the 29th feb 08. do i need them at all.?

If you're driving from England to Ireland, you may not need the passport, but you'll definitely need your driver's license.

I know that coming from the United States to the United Kingdom, one needs a passport. Not everyone in America drives, but there are identification cards we can get. They act the same as a license, but just for identification purposes, only.

Since Ireland and England are both the "United Kingdom", your regulations may be different. Your best bet is to check with your local authorities. They'd be able to tell you for sure.

Friends of mine who live in the North East portion of England, drove to Scotland for a concert a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if they had to have a passport to do so. I know they have passports, as they've been here to visit me a couple of times.
