Best way to move dog and cats?

from new jersey to florida (about 18 hrs nonstop) with two young children?
Our car is a 2004 honda accord
we wanted to rent a truck to bring our things, but we'll need a cab with car seats, and we need to bring our car.
I want our pets to be safe and comfortable and our pit bull is NOT used to crating, she is a spoiled house doggie. Any tips would be great!

Generally dogs travel well without a crate. She may get a little hyper from time to time on the trip, but for the most part she should just lie on the floor or on the seat.

The cats will need to be crated. Your vet might prescribe a tranquilizer to help them travel better. Cats tend to cry and yowl a bit when they travel in a car carrier. It's normal, but nerve wracking on a long drive.

Be sure to stop every couple of hours so the dog can pee and maybe the cats will drink a little water. If they're tranquilized, they may not want to drink. They'll just look at you like you're from another planet or something.

Be sure to line the cat carriers with some newspaper. Cats get excited and tend to pee in the carrier. The newspaper will make it a little easier to clean the carrier later.

Good luck. I'm just glad the last move I had to make with the dog and cat was only a mile away from our old house. They didn't have time to get too upset over the car ride.

If your company is moving you there is a service but it is pricey for you to do on your own. It's calle Animal Air or maybe Air Animal.

Rent a truck that will hold the car seats and trailer your car? Or one of you drive the car and one drive the truck.

In order to get your animal moved safely, crate your dog now. Almost no service can safely move your animal that far without crating her.

By the way, thank you for being responsible, decent human beings and taking your animal with you when you move.
