Can I bring French cheese into Canada as a gift? (also, restrictions on other souvenirs from Europe/Morocco?)?

Can I bring French cheeses, such as Reblochon, Camembert, Chevre and other stuff you don't always find in Canada, back into the country when I return?

I've been living in France but will soon return to Canada. A friend of mine misses French cheese, and I'd like to bring some back for her. Are there restrictions on what kinds (if any) are allowed to enter the country, and how much?

How do I find out about such customs restrictions for these and other items? I've bought lots of souvenirs here, in Italy and in Morocco.

You are not supposed to, but I did several time without declaring it. The purpose is to protect oneself against disease such as foot and mouth disease.

You need to live it in your luggage because it will be at a better temperature in your luggage than in the cabin.

As for reblochon, it needs to be sealed. I mean waterproof, odor proof sealed (aluminum foil plus Tupperware, at least). This is a potential French "bomb" you are carrying.
I remember once my luggage smelled reblochon before opening it.... :-) Besides, be sure your luggage will not be lost.
