Exchanging currency? |
I'm off on a Carribean cruise in a couple of weeks, which will take in different locations, whats the best way to go about my currency ? should i just take US $ and exchange that into pesos as i will be in Mexico or should i get pesos here with the UK 拢 before i go? The places a cruise ship will stop will take American dollars. They always have stops that specifically tailor to American tourists. Yeah. Exchange it in US Dollars and then Re-exchange it to Peso. Thats a graet idea I may suggest. Dollars but get a few pesos for tips etc I would do it before hand. I think it would be easier that way mainly because some countries only have so many places that the exchange can be done at.. doing it before you go would save you the hassle of running around trying to find a bank to exchange your funds.. in my opinion, i think USD will continue to drop...so, you can get pesos here with the UK pound before you go... Check out the exchange rates and the percentage costs for exchanging money. To buy dollars and then change them in to Pesos will incur two lots of handling charges. Does the cruise liner exchange money (I think they usually have a bank on board) and if so do they have a published exchange rate which you can compare with the English banks? However that said I am sure that the Mexican tourist sites that will be visited whilst you are cruising will accept the US$. Take some UK Stg with you as well and if you have your credit card you may find it most cost advantageous to purchase items with that then pay for it in the UK. Not forgetting that most of your meals and drinks will be taken on board. The Caribbean and Mexico are likely to take US Dollars. I'd take enough peso's to get you through until you hit an ATM or a currency exchange place. Not much, but enough so it is not a hassle. Given that it is a cruise ship, there will be exchanges all over the place in each port and I imagine the locals would take USD$$$ instead of pesos in a flash they will take US dollars |
