Are knitting needles allowed?

Are knitting needles allowed on Airplanes ? When i look it up on the internet they say they are allowed but everyone i know has had knitting needles taken away. This was mostly closer to 9/11 and I'm not sure how it is now.

Yes, see the TSA site below...it specifically says they are allowed.

most likely they are not alloud on carry on items but if you were to put them in you checking bag than there should not be a problem.....

either pack them in checked luggage, or mail them if you are visiting family. I've noticed that even though certain things may be allowed, all it takes is one miffed employee to confiscate it. Sure you could sit and argue and get them back, but you have a plane to catch.

Are you going to knit in the flight? :o They say its not allowed as CARRY ON, not luggage. But why would you want to...-.-

No, they aren't. I tried to bring them on 2 years ago and they had to discard of them. Don't bother trying to bring them, you'll just get them taken away.

Yes..they are allowed...

yes they are but,
anything thats percieved to be a weapon can be confiscated. thats the problem
so you may want to put rubber tips on the ends of them when you are going through the security check.
and i woulnt take a project that i really really cared about.
also wooden needles dont set the alarm off. so i fyou are knitting sox, you can stuff the sox and five point needles into your coat pocket and make sure you have tips on them as well.
plastic needles also might be a good idea, just leave
those metal clackers at home.
