Grand Canyon Survival Kit? |
Giving my mom a trip to the Grand Canyon for her bday and want to present her with a survival kit as her gift. What items should I put in it? will be a hotel set up. First aid kit, sun glasses, tan lotion, chap stick, chocolate (always a good bet) disposable camera, shoe insets, travel journal, canteen, can a tuna? , CD, ect ect.. you didn't say if this was a rafting trip or camping or tourist/hotel setup... waterproof things, zip lock bags, aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol, shorts sandals, camp slippers, telescoping walking stick, hat ect ect... that's off the top of my head WATER!!!!!! Grand Canyon is very dry. If she will be hiking, she will need plenty of water. I would include sun screen (spf 30 or better). Grand Canyon is at 7000 feet and you will burn much more quickly in the thinner air. Also, a camera and request some info from nps.gov. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and places to stop and rest. You may also want to contact the transportation desk at the Bright Angel lodge in the park. The main phone # to Xanterra (they run all the hotels and restaurants in the park) is 928-638-2631. And lastly, a backpack/fanny pack to carry stuff in. A purse can be a pain to carry when you are walking all over the place. |
