Going to florida this year, have convictions will i get entry,i'am a brittisd citzen? If it's for theft or violent crime it is on a shared data base, so it will be flagged on entry. This may mean deportation and a ten year to life exclusion.
An ASBO might flag.
Non fatal driving offences will probably be ok. are your convictions resent .. i.e the last 5 years .... i go to the USA every year ..trust me they are red hot on things like that .... id hate you to waist all that money to get turned back .. they do do that ... it happened to my mum over some silly mix up in names and that was years before 9.11 .. you go through a finger tip scanner and that tells them all they need to know .. and that's before you get your bags ... if i was you id as some one ... i.e travel agent ... police ...some one that would know for sure .... You will need to apply for a visa, ordinarily you would be eligible for the visa waiver program which means you don't need a visa (so tourists going on short trips can go in without a visa). However if you have been arrested (even if it didn't end up in a conviction) or have a conviction you need to apply for a visa. The rehabilitation of offenders act doesn't apply to US visa law so even if it was ages ago it still counts.
This is a useful website with the full information:

I don't know though, how likely they are to refuse you entry to the US, however you are required to jump through some hoops to get the visa and hopefully your trip is later in the year and you have time to go there.
I got a visa to study in US and it involved a lot of form-filling, lots of information to be photocopied and having to get special photographs which aren't the same size as UK passport photos!!! I then also spent a long day queuing down at the Embassy and a lot of hanging around. If you do end up going there, take a really good (thick) book with you!!
Good luck! |
