Yes, of course - Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials". For months, now, I've been trying to get through the third novel; I really didn't take to it at all!

I can't remember much about the alternative Oxford, and don't think I'll be re-reading books I and II.

yes it is the oxford in a world that is a parallel universe to our in Phillip Pullman's dark material books...i can't really think of much else expect that it is laid out the same is the Jordan College is a version of Oxford College...

Yay! I love those books! I can't wait for the Golden Compass to come out...Northern Lights.

I think the movie made it look more futuristic. I imagined it to be more old, gothic, etc.
