Traveling to Ottawa... Have a question.? |
Hello. I am a 20 year old male traveling to ottawa in february. As we all know, the american drinking age is 21. Will I be able to drink seeing as how their law is 19 to drink? or will I have to abide by US laws. When in Canada you are governed by Canadian law. As far as the Canadian authorities are concerned, you will be allowed to drink alcohol. As long as you have photo i.d. you can drink in Ontario. You can also go to the casinos. I don't mean this in an insincere way but why would US laws be applicable in Canada? The basic rule of any travel anywhere: you always abide by the laws of the country you are in, just as you expect foreign visitors to abide by YOUR laws when they come to YOUR country. The same principle applies to social and behavious customs as well. I agree with Jimmy. Why should you think American rules apply in Canada? |
