You can decorate a room hanging a few Japanese style hand fans (choose the ones with japanese print or flowers), you can also create a low table with couchans on the floors like the japanese style, and all the guests could gather around the table sitting on the floors (very typical), serve japanese food, use a chop stick holder (you can find beautiful ones at any store like Bed Bath & Beyond and even at Kmart). You can also put on the floor a tatami carpet it's like a wood and it looks beautiful. Don't use glass, use small Japanese tea cup to serve drinks also avail in many stores and they are not expensive...
