I am visiting Ottawa, Ontario this week. Where in the US can I go to go shopping that is near the Ottawa area?

I currently live in South America and I love Canada, yet this time I've found all strores but with no real offers as it ususally happens in the US

Don't really understand what you mean by "no real offers". Do you mean sales?

If you're driving it is 3-4 hours to the nearest major U.S. town (Syracuse, NY or Burlington, Vermont). In my opinion, you'd be better off trying Montreal (the second largest city in Canada, after Toronto) which is a very cosmopolitan city and only about 2 hours away.

It's several hours to the US from Ottawa. I think Buffalo NY is the closest by highway. Stick to your trip. Shopping should be ok there, but only buy what you really like and what you can't get at home.

Why would you go shopping in the US? Go to Montreal! Only 2 hours from Ottawa. Ste-Catherine Street is definitely the best place to go shopping in Canada!

The Canadian dollar has appreciated quite a bit against the American. It is now just about at par, making it much more expensive for people coming from outside Canada to find good deals, I am sure.

However, I agree with previous answers, Ottawa is too far from major US shopping destinations. I have never gone shopping in Watertown NY, but it is probably the closest US destination to Ottawa
