What are some of the good things and some of the bad things about living in Ottawa, Canada?

What are some of the good things and some of the bad things about living in Ottawa, Canada?

Good things
There are festivals, skating on the Canal (subject to actual cold weather), its not Toronto or Montreal. Two good tack shops and one that is going down hill. Kayaking in the Ottawa river, the green belt

Bad things
Road system is awful you can't get there from here. Bus system goes everywhere but you can't get there from here. Bypassed by most big name concerts. Two words FEDERAL GOVERNMENT 'nuff said. Municipal government stuck in the 60's that's 1860s and lastly Ottawa is truly the town that fun forgot.

Good things, several months a year you can skate to work and you're not that far from Montreal.
People who live there say there are no bad things but I think it must be a little boring.

Good things: Small town feel, lots of green space, easy to get around once you get the hang of it. Lots to do... but you really have to look for it. Great if you like the outdoors (hiking, cycling, running, skating, skiing).

Bad things: Small town feel (means we don't have a presence on the major entertainment circuit). Government town... too many levels of government means analysis paralysis... Federal, Provincial (Ontario and Quebec), Municipal, National Capital Commission... everybody has to get involved.

Good - clean, lots of good paying jobs ( even though they are overpayed government jobs subsidized by the rest of the country ), museums, festivals and celebrating canada day in ottawa is awesome, close to montreal and toronto

Bad - not a sports town at all ( renegades backrupt twice, sens backrupt once and will be gone as soon as they have a couple of losing seasons in a row ), public transit sucks, need to be bilingual to get a good job or to advance

A lot of people think Ottawa is boring. Yes most concerts do miss here but oh well. There is so much other stuff to do. There is pretty much always more than one festival going on. Ottawa is so small that it is easy to go enjoy nature and downtown within a 40 minute drive.

Downtown is so beautiful. There is so many statues and things to learn about. There is a lot of performers/shows. You can shop, eat or just lie on Parliament hill.

Ottawa has a lot of little neighbourhoods-great for families.
One of the best things about Ottawa is the canal! The NCC plans so much stuff like Winterlude, Bluesfest, Tulip festival and so many other festivals for all ages and interests.

Lots of people complain about the government because they don't know how good they have it. Some places aren't even democratic so I wish Ottawans/Canadians would stop complaining!

A great thing about Ottawa is you can live here for all your life and still be a tourist in your own city!

Good
Great Neighborhoods
Alot Of Schools
Lots Of Places To Go
Not That Many Killings
The Capital Of Canada

Bad
Too Much Traffic
Alot Of Graffiti
Litter
The Weather Is Either Really Hot Or Really Cold
