Do people visit normandy beaches?

to just lay there and soak up the sun?

you mean besides the 150,000 troops who stormed Normandy beaches of which about 2,500 GI's died on the beaches and 2,600 paratroopers diedas well as the approximately 3,100 Germans died?

The the D-Day scenes of Saving Private Ryan were shot in Ireland. The landscape indeed differs slightly from the one of Normandy. Report It

Yes. There is suntanning taking place on the beaches of France.

yes they are beautiful sandy beaches

Yes, absolutely.

The landing beaches are only a part of the coast of Normandy.

Beside that, there are popular seaside resorts, especially east of the D-Day beaches like Deauville, Trouville, Houlgate and Cabourg.

You can actually park at the same location as the sunbathers on Omaha Beach, and walk up the hill and see the bunkers that were installed by the Nazi that look out on the beach.

This link shows a picture at Omaha Beach with a jetski out on the ocean in the background. There are a few other pics at this site that concentrate primarily on the bunkers and give a feel for what the Americans were facing that day when the ocean turned red with their blood.

It was a little cool on the day we were there, but we have a pic of several people lying on the beach with many walking up and down the beach. I just uploaded that pic to Yahoo Pictures and the link below should take you to it. It is looking down Omaha Beach from the North to the South.
