WW2 sites to visit? |
Please can somebody reccomend me some interesting places to visit in france that are connected to ww2, I would like to know some lesser well known areas... not the beaches/ Ste Mere Eglise etc. One of the main ones is the one overlooking Omaha beach in Normandie... There is a cemetary and memorial area.. It is in Colleville-sur-Mer. near Bayeux Lesser well known areas? That's a oxymoron... Vichy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vichy#Vichy... It applies to Both the second and fort but the (I'm gonna spell this phonetically sorry!) mwa-shi-no line. It is a large sort of under ground line and fortification built by the french. it goes along the whole border (bar a small bit where the German's got through!) You may also visit the fortresses along the east French border (Ligne Maginot : http://www.maginot-line.com/ang/c_sommai... the Vercors in the south of France. |
