World War 2 Normandy tour?

Hey.. I'm a very interested in the whole topic WW2 and I'm planing to visit the beaches of Normandy in the spring... Is there anyone that lives in Caen or Carentan that can give me a tip where to go or is there some kind of tour? And then I need to find an antik store in Normandy because I'm seeking an M1 Garand from WW2 since I already have a Lee enflied of the British Allies... I'd like to expand my Collection of WW2 weapons? Anyone have any suggestions?

Must do :
Memorial museum is caen, best museum about war that i have visited so far.
American cementery of colleville sur mer: Omaha beach
City of Arromanches : first artificial harbour built after d-day
Then go to Carentan : big battle on a counter offensive of the german.
Go down to Avranches : Patton army break-through
It will be moving but worth doing !

I am not so sure you will find an antique store in Normandy with what you need, you can imagine that this area has been searched and picked over. There is a huge market in Lille which is more of a place to find just about anything with hundreds of dealers. I believe it is once a month but not sure. Try to see Bastogne in Belgium too for the memories of the Battle of the Bulge. In all these places you go to the information center and you can find guides.

My mother was born and raised in Dunkirk France. She married my dad at the end of WWII and moved to the US. She has told me many stories of the war. I don't have any contacts in France now so I can't really be of much help. I would recommend you visit Dunkirk. Do as much research as possible before you go. If you want to hear some personal stories I would be happy to share them with you. Post a question with "Dunkirk France" as part of the question and I will respond when I have time.

I would go to the Calais area there are a lot of WWll museums some are privately owned. They may sell you a spare M1 or know where to find one. You can find some of the museums in the website below
