American Cemetary in Normandy, France?

Have any of you been? What effect did it have on you? I was personnally humbled by it and thought it was a beautiful, peaceful place.

I loved it. I was touching and made you realize just how many people gave their lives for our country.

It was a beutiful, peaceful place. Kind of eery, Definately stops you in your tracks to see it and to feel the energy. Its amazing how my mood changed from in the car and then stepping out and walking over. Looking at how many people, well, you were there. I think everyone should go if they have the chance.

I haven't been to the Normandy one, but I have been to the Newfoundland WWI Memorial in the Somme (North West) and it is incredible, but is getting worseyou used to be able to walk along the lines of the old tenches but now they have tried to preserve them with a few pebbles and make them look good, so now you can see over the side of the trenches from the side on this big path they've put through the middle of the battlefield. Where is the logic in that preserve the battlefield and stick massive concrete path through the middle of it. Dissapointing

It was a very humbling experience. I went on a tour to visit Normandy and the American Cemetery. The beaches of Normandy was humbling as well. One of my fellow travelers told the story her dad told her of his experience. He drove a tank up the beach, running over the bodies of his comrades, his friends...he didn't know if they were dead or if they were just injured. He couldn't stop the huge tank...had to keep going. That still haunts him today.
