There are no cheap hotels near the attractions, and certainly none within sight of the falls. Unless you go in February or November when it is too cold and wet to enjoy.

Travelodge and Comfort Inn and both pretty close, and you'd get reasonable rates this time of year. You can't SEE the falls from the hotels, but you are pretty much right on Clifton Hill which is a great place to be. Rates will be MUCH higher in the summer, so if you are thinking of booking for June - September, book now to get the lowest rate, and ask for an early-booking discount, you might get lucky :D
