I am going to niagra falls next Mar. I'll be staying on the Canadian side. Will I need a passport? |
The hotel is on the falls but has a Canadian address. You'll need a passport to get back into the U.S. I believe the official start date is February 1, 2008 for the new passport requirements. Starting then, if you leave the U.S. and go anywhere by any means of transportation, you'll need a passport to get back in. If you're from US and u hold an American passport you'll need an Canadian Visa that can be specially given in Niagara(American side) just for the visit. U need to research this matter........ Yes you will likely need a passport since you will be entering Canada. Three wrong answers!!! If you FLY to Canada, you will need a passport. If you travel by LAND, you will not need a passport as that requirement does not start until after SUMMER 2008. See website below and read the top half of the page for the CURRENT info. If you are an AMERICAN citizen , you do NOT need a visa to Canada! If you fly to Buffalo, then drive over to your hotel, you will not need a passport. Have a great trip. yes, assuming you come from the USA and want to return after the visit. Crossing the border now requires a passport. yes you are going to need a passport,eh I am Canadian and a permanent resident living in the US. I used to live about 30KM from Niagara Falls and crossed the border into the US frequently. The protocol for crossing the border and reentering the US has changed since 9/11. |
