What can you say about niagara falls (canada)?

can positively or negatively affect the development of nation or region?

the falls itself is a natural wonder of the world. something breathtaking and something you have to see to belive.

the city of niagara falls i dont like that much as it is so commercial and touristy. its too bad that we couldnt have preserved our city a bit better but i guess money speaks louder than anything.

aaaamazing !!!! i was there in the canadian side and the only thing i didnt like were all this american style restaurants and shops .... i would prefer 2 find more rustic restaurants that preserve the countryside or natural look.

If you get a chance to see the Falls at night, DO IT!! It is so beautiful with all the lights shining out onto the Falls.

I lived there for 5 years.
Although it is beautiful around the falls, and the stuff they have for tourists, it was the worst dump I have ever lived in.
Everything is for the tourists. They expect that everyone who wants to shop will just go to St. Catharines, so they have no proper shopping there. The people are rude. The rent is outrageous, as is the cost of living there.
I was pregnant. There is only 2 OB/Gyn's in the whole city. They hospital was old, outdated and dirty.
They have nothing for the residents there. There is no culture, barely a movie theater. No downtown area. No business district. The restaurants were horrible and overpriced.
The only thing I loved to do was go by the falls. They keep that area looking wonderful.

Hey, I've lived in Niagara Falls my whole life and it's awesome!! I don't know what the last person was talking about but they don't expect everyone to shop in St. Catharines, I know that the mall [Niagara Square] isn't the greatest, but there's also the Factory Outlet Mall which has really awesome clothes! and the people are NOT rude, i don't know who that girl knew but I know a lot of the town and I worked in the tourist industry as well and the people are nice!! well at least most of them, what city is perfect? lol
.. and the hospital isn't THAT old, it's not like because we're niagara falls we're going to rebuild it every other year! it's a normal decent hospital! the only complaint is the emergency room, the wait is sooooo long, which they really need to do something about! ALSO, the residents are GREAT!! there is soo much culture in Niagara Falls!! There are so many different cultures that we have different clubs and facilities for!There are lots of events that go on in our city that bring everyone together, I know it's a big city, but everyone is friends and most are connected in some way! Either through family, school, culture, etc.
and .. "barely a movie theater."???? what do you mean!?!?
we have the Cineplex, it was just built a few years ago, it's big & really nice! So i'm not sure what you're talking about...
it's Niagara Falls, but outside the tourist industry it's just a regular city!
"No downtown area."? I'll admit the shops downtown are barely looked at anymore because most people go to the outlets, the Square, or The Penn Center in St. Catharines, though the city is working on plans to rebuild downtown and expand it.
"The restaurants were horrible and overpriced."?? The restaurants in Niagara Falls are really nice, well displayed and have good food.. sure they are obviously going to be overpriced if you eat at a restaurant on Clifton Hill or around that area, because it's the tourist industry, obviously!! If you want to eat at a good restaurant you have to go into the city and residential areas where most people go.

Other than that, there is plenty to do in Niagara Falls. There is Marineland, there are several waterparks, there is the Niagara Parks commission which has several attractions and beautiful displays of nature, Clifton Hill/Victoria Avenue, and a lot more .. and for the residentials, those are also good for a change sometimes! There's the movies, the mall, there's certain bars that the locals go to .. it's pretty much a regular city, except since it's a tourist industry it had more to offer!

Overall, Niagara Falls is a great city to live in. It's a tourist industry, so you have to expect certain things from that. It has beautiful scenery that anyone can enjoy on a regular basis, and the people are caring. I would reccomend it if anyone was planning on moving here! :)
