How much custom & excise duty do we have to pay on the shopping form US? specially on the electronics?

I am mainly planning to buy LCD tv, laptop, microwave, cordless phone & clothes. I think it will be over the limit of $400 available to each me & my wife for 48 hrs. So what are the additional custom duties & canadian taxes I have to pay? is it worth afterall to shop electricals from US?

If you are over your limit then you will pay the GST when you hit the border. There will also be duties but the amount is dependent on the product and the country of origin (where it was made).

Check out the prices here, knowing that you will pay GST and provincial taxes, and then compare to what you are paying in the states. Sometimes it does make quite a bit of difference in spite of the extra duty that might be applied.
