Shopping in downtown NYC?

I am going to Max Brenner's in Union Square for brunch. I would love to go shopping afterwards in the downtown area. What are some store where I can shop for clothes?. I'm not looking for knockoffs but I don't want anything too expensive like the boutiques in SOHO either.

Please don't give me areas, I'm familiar with NY. I'm looking for names of stores or addresses with lots of shops around them. I get tired of walking up and down streets only to find one or two stores of interest. I'm petitie and looking for work and casual clothes.

If you want a discount Marshalls/TJ Max sort of experience go to Century 21 on Church Street.

If you want something more youthful and trendy go to Yellow Rat Bastard at 478 Broadway.

Right around the corner from Max Brenner is a Forever 21 store (on 14th Street). Right upstairs from that is a Filene's, which has great deals on clothes for work.

After that, I would walk downtown on Broadway below Houston - on that strip you will find H&M, Armani Exchange, Puma, Adidas (actually Adidas is just on the north side of Houston), Old Navy, Pearl River and plenty of smaller stores.
