Can you take a train from NYC to Niagra Falls? If so, how long/how much?

Can you take a train from NYC to Niagra Falls? If so, how long/how much?

Not sure that it goes all the way to Niagara Falls, but you can take Amtrak from NYC to Buffalo. It'll cost you a couple hundred round-trip. Check out Amtrak's website and look for stations. Amtrak is the only train that you can take for the entire duration. Buffalo has a subway (sort of) system, but it's not extensive and I don't think it goes to Niagara. However, I'm guaranteeing that you can get off the train in Buffalo and get a bus to Niagara.

One last recommendation - check flights!!! They're actually sometimes cheaper than the train.

It is MUCH cheaper to fly Jet Blue from JFK to Buffalo that to go by Amtrak.
Lots of ground transportation to Niagara Falls from the airport.

I agree with Robert S.

It is over 400 mile from NYC to Niagra. but if you have the time you should go
Its Beautiful,
Jetblue is the way to go its a almost 7 hour car ride, 1 hour plane.

You are much better off flying from NYC to Buffalo/Niagara airport and taking the bus from the airport to the the Falls. The bus ride is about 30 minutes from the airport.

I worked in Buffalo two days a week for about a year - the other days I was in my office in NYC - and it is a long way from NYC.

Besides the distance from NYC, with the exception of 'The Northeast Corridor' (Wash DC to Boston), AMTRAK is a cluster F##K. The trains have to move so slow over hundreds of miles of track in NY State because they have never been upgraded or maintained.

The final nail in this is that the plane from NYC will get you there in 55 min at the same or less cost!

Forget the train...and do yourself a favor!

One final note. Buffalo/Niagara airport is really a nice little airport. Built just a few years ago. Modern and comfortable. If you want a place to eat while waiting there, do try the Italian restaurant in the Renaissance Hotel right across from the airport entrance. It is A O.K. (the Bar is nice also).

The best way to get to Niagara Falls is by air. Are you a U.S. citizen? U.S. Citizen need to provide two forms of identification when entering Canada so if you fly into Toronto (which is another option) remember to take the ID's with you.

Of you can just fly up to Buffalo, NY on a 60 minute flight and then rent a car, take a shuttle bus, or taxi.

Have fun

^_^
