What kind of weather will new york have in april? and what do people wear?

what kind of clothing should i go buy?

New York's weather greatly varies in the spring, but you can count on average temperatures not being too cold, nor too warm. There's a lot of rain (go figure), so bring a rain coat and an umbrella.

People dress appropriately for the weather in New York, so you'll be fine with a regular jacket and a rain coat. Wear flat, comfortable shoes. That doesn't mean that they don't have to be fashionable! Jeans are fine too, it's not Paris. Everyone has their own style. And most people dress in black - black jackets, black pants, black shoes.

Bring a guide book too - I highly, highly recommend Not for Tourists -- it's not one of those "top ten sights" books, but it has so much wonderful practical advice, subway maps, restaurant locations, hotels, etc.

can snow and can be 80 degress.
very unporedictable.

The weather is like the Giants Patriots Game. Unpredictable but you know what's to come.

April tends to be a rainy month and its cool. If its cold enough like now, it could snow. Brrrrrr.

All I can say is remember to dress in layers as outside can be nice but in the buildings, the AC can be blasting cold air and not everyone likes that.
