Safe to walk to #7 station from Holiday Inn LaGuardia?? |
I'm staying in the Holiday Inn LaGuardia soon and have been told that the area is "not the best" so I was wondering if it is safe to walk from the hotel to the #7 station nearby? It's OK, especially during the day. Admittedly, walking along Roosevelt Avenue through Flushing and Corona isn't my favorite thing to do in the city. There are better parts, but that's not too bad up there. It's off the Grand Central Parkway, near Shea Stadium. Once you get off of Roosevelt Avenue and away from the station, it's a regular residential neighborhood, and a decent one. My mother walked to that station on the 7 line into her 80s, including coming home at 11:00 at night after the opera, ballet or theater. I don't know where this mortal fear of Queens is coming from but as someone who grew there I find it very weird. By that, do you mean the one in Corona? Corona is pretty safe but it's not safe at night so don't go out at night. But if you do, just be careful with your stuff. The closest stop on the 7 train is 111th Street in Corona. You'll be I believe 5 blocks from the stop. This area of Queens isn't that bad. I moved to Jackson Heights near Corona for few months and it not very bad place. I have went to library there @ before closing time and nothing happened to me. |
