Going to the Catskills but can't afford the Mohonk Mountain House. Anyone know of an an alt place?

Going to the Catskills (New Paltz) but can't afford to stay at the Mohonk Mountain House (where we are having lunch). Anyone know of an an alternate place that would be great to stay at, someplace between New York City and New Paltz?

Well there are a ton of other hotels besides Mohonk - there's a few in New Paltz that are, well, adequate but nothing to rave about. You'll find a little better quality in Kingston, and more in Poughkeepsie (though be careful which part of town you're in - stay away from the business district).

If you're looking for charm, check out the bed and breakfasts - they're amazing in the Catskills. I'd seriously recommend staying in Woodstock, it's a beautiful, quirky, unique town. And decently affordable.

Check out a travel site like hotels.com, kayak.com, or something similar.

Or look up a travel site for the Catskills/New Paltz and you may find lodging listed.
