How is the traffic at 3pm from pa rt 78 to newyork city?

i want to travel to newyork city from pa i will be taking rt 78, travel time is only an hour and 30mins even if i took 95 but i know between exit 6 and 7a via i95 is a terrible mess all day long, does anyone travel 78 to nyc often enough to tell me what the traffic is like getting in at about 3-4pm and how long will it take me to get in not including the tunnel

thanks

Interstate 78 is an east-west route stretching from Union Township, Pennsylvania to New York City. In New Jersey, I-78 is called the Phillipsburg-Newark Expressway and the Newark Bay Extension. Interstate 78 runs for 66 miles (106 km) in the state of New Jersey from the Interstate 78 Toll Bridge at the Pennsylvania state line to Holland Tunnel at the New York state line. I-78 continues in Manhattan for less than a mile.

While you are missing the worst part of the rush hour traffic that is leaving the city The Holland Tunnel will be con jested in both directions. Expect long delays. Holland Tunnel and the George Washington Bridge have got to be the worst bottlenecks in NYC.

I make the commute to NYC from PA everyday via 78......Leave yourself at least a 2.5 hour window.....78 at the 287 split is always a nightmare and as you get closer to NYC around the Newark area traffic is getting heavy in all directions.....Rush hour there is always delays at the tunnel in both directions I assume once you get to the NJ Turnpike you will take the Newark Bay extension to exit 14-C for the Holland Tunnel that is also a nightmare with traffic going to Bayonne that is another mess so like I said give your at least 2.5 hours better to be early then late for appointments plus traffic is always a problem in NYC I deal with the traffic everyday in the city with my job it can be tricky getting around esp around rush hour its all backed up

Have you considered taking train into NYC via Philadelphia? Just throwing it out there.
