I want to move to New York help? |
I'm an international student, turning 21 this year. Any tips on a smooth transition. My advice, visit New York City before considering moving here. Visiting NYC is worth doing because you can experience how the city is before considering a move here. It like buy a car, first you have to test drive it before buying, the same applies to living New York, particularly for an international student starting out on life. So, my advice is for a smooth transition is to come and visit NYC before moving here. bring money, that is the most important thing It's expensive, but it's a great city. Definitely find some place to stay before you come over. You do not want to wing it otherwise you'll be left in less than desirable accomodations. Bring clothes for all weather. Learn the subway system. I live in Long Island and I visit friends in the city, but because I don't know the subway system I spend a ton of money on cabs and it's so not worth it. The other night I spent $40+ on a cab ride to and from Penn to a friends apartment when the subway would have literally cost $4. New York is a great city but it is expensive. Bring a lot of money and study the map, the subway and make a BUDGET!!!! (oh yeah a job would help 2) |
