Can I use Indian Rupee's in Nepal? |
Can you tell me if Indian Rupee's can be used in Nepal. I sent a money transer to be picked up in Nepal in India Rupee's by mistake. I just wondered if indian rupees can be used or picked up there by the recipient? Sent it Western Union. The person I am sending it to is normally based in India so it completely slipped my mind before I sent it. In Kathmandu (capital city of Nepal) they use Indian Rupees sometimes like how they use other country's currency and they also use it in buying things but not all the shops may accept Indian Rupees. But anyway you can easily convert it into Nepali Rupees. I don't think indian rupees can be picked up there by the recipient from Western Union. I think the recipient will receive it in Nepali Rupees ( recipient may get the money by converting it into Nepali currency).. You can always change the Indian currency in Nepali one once you be there in Nepal in Money Exchanger. The exchange rate is INR 1 = NPR 1.6 No only dollar or Nepali currency is used in Nepal. Indian money is good for Idia only, legally ! |
