Why do Moroccan women traditionally wear niqaab under their noses?

I hate that look. If you want to make yourself look ugly then that's the way to go imho.

Examples in case somebody stumbles upon this and doesn't know what I'm talking about: http://www.flickr.com/photos/diogotavare...

Good question! I dislike that look as well. If you see, it is older women who do wear it that way. As stated above, the younger generation of women who wear niqab, they wear it with a long khimar. They cover their faces as well as their bodies.
It has been said that these older women wore niqab years ago more so as a fashion rather than to cover their faces as a religion belief. They kinda held onto this fashion.

ROFL I agree with you 100%.
I only usually see older women wearing this style of niqaab. Most younger women who wear niqaab wear the khimar which hangs from top of head to at least mid bum and then a proper niqaab that is not see through or under the nose.

LOL I wondered that too!

My wife says (her opinion) is that they must feel comfortable that way.

I don't care for it. My fiance said that women who are extremely beautiful must cover their faces too not just their hair. Who is the judge then of who is most beautiful and who should wear the niqaab?

Eecchhh I don't like that.
