I am interested in renting a car for my 10 day trip to Morocco.?

Is it possible for a Canadian woman to rent a car and approximately how much will it cost to rent a small car? I am travelling with another woman. Any suggestions as to another way to get around Morocco if renting a vehicle is not the best choice.

Yes you can rent a car and you do not need an international drivers license... you can use your Canadian one.

The prices for renting a vehicle in Morocco can be steep (~$100/day Canadian) but it is the best way to see the country if you want to go outside tourist areas.

Please note Moroccan drivers are..... for lack of a better term, crazy. Stop signs/lights are a suggestion to them more than a rule and the roads can be very tight and narrow.

Also, most all small cars have no A/C will be manual transmission (if you want those luxuries you are going to pay dearly) and you will need to check the durability of the car if you are travelling in the mountains or in the desert.

Another alternative is to hire a driver. Most grand taxi drivers and even some petit taxi drivers will take you wherever you want to go -- for a price (to be heatedly negotiated).

The train/bus/taxi system is wonderful in Morocco and I found no need to drive a car.

Renting a car is the best choice of getting around, the next best thing is to rent it with a driver, but that cost a little more (10 USD a day for the driver approx.) about the car rental they are offices all over the place, airports hotels downtown..etc...
The price depends on the type of car, the bigger it is more expensive it gets, but you shouldn't get a car for more than 40 to 50 USD a day.

Yes, women can rent cars in Morocco. I don't know about the prices.
