Are takshita's like the ones on the following site available in Morocco? |
Fez(thank you so much) posted this site as an example to a question Sarah T posted and it made me wonder if takshitas, caftans and jellabas were available in Morocco in these beautiful colors. If so approximately how much would they cost and where would be the best place to get one. I'm more interested in the colors than in the material as I'm sure the silk ones would be too expensive for me. :D Yeah, I only used that as an example and yes, you can find a lot better. (The site is also over priced.) The site is pretty old actually and there were once other dresses on it. I have been using it as a visual aid to give ppl for years! :) You can find these things EVERYWHERE. Even on the side of the street there will be poor women selling new djellabas to make some extra money. You can have them tailored made (much more common to have things tailor made there than here). Material is better and cheaper overall in Morocco too. You can get much nicer ones in Morocco for sure. You can buy them off the shelf or you can have one tailor made for you. They are a real work of art...beautiful! As for price, they will vary depending on where you buy, fabric, etc. They can get very expensive. You can buy taksheeta, caftan and djellaba similar to what is on that site. You can get a simple caftan, machine sewn that is quite attractive for as little as $70. I think the cheapest taksheeta you will find will be no less than $200 but I could be wrong. Yes, absolutely. The easiest way (and usually cheapest) is to have one made - you have your measurements taken, buy the recommended amount of fabric, then take it back to the tailor to have your takshita made custom. I've had two made at this point - one is 100% silk and cost something awful (I'm guessing about $500 US - but most of that was the fabric itself) and the other is a lesser quality silk and cost around $150. I've had djellabas made for $25 US though, so it really just depends on where you buy your fabric, how many embellishments you want, etc. Mine are extremely detailed (they were for my wedding, etc). |
