Is Fez in Marocco a nice place to visit?

Is Fez in Marocco a nice place to visit?

Absolutely. Fez is an enticing place, especially its old Medina. Walking the narrow streets is like taking part in a time travel, really. You'll see mules carrying all sorts of goods, camel heads hanging in front of a special butcher's shop. You'll smell thousands of smells from nice frangrances to horrible odours. You can visit the old tanneries where skin is processed the traditional way (smelly and spectacular). There is an enormous number of shops selling all sorts of handicraft at bargain prices - even better if you can bargain:)
Then I haven't mentioned the great food - more traditional stuff in the old town, also European food in the new town.
So, if you have the chance, go!

fez is really easy to get around, a lot of local small hotels or big tourist hotels... wonderful old city souk w/ metalware, silk weavings -- also has a "new city"... great food... you can take day trips by train to rabat & other places...you can't go wrong in fez or morocco!!

You won't forget your visit during all your life.
Coming back and again and again!

Fez is a must!
Have fun!

Yes, but it wouldn't be my top choice in Morocco. Fez has three main parts - the oldest part of the city (Fez al Bali), the newer medina (Fez Jdid) and the new, French-built part of town with wide avenues and fountains. I love Fez al Bali and the ville nouvelle (new city) but not Fez Jdid so much.

Spend the day in Fez al Bali for shopping, historical sites, and just wandering, and relax in the new city in the evening at a cafe.
