Anybody here send or know somebody who shipped furniture etc to Morocco?

I heard that if you move to Morocco you can for one time, tax free, ship your furniture/household belongings to Morocco. I thought this was interesting. Don't know if I'd do that but I have some belongings I would like to ship if I were to move there so it would be helpful.

Sarah, maybe we should go in the vacuum business 2gether!

My family shipped stuff like that overseas but it was YEARS ago. I was like 5 and I still remember the diff. volt store we went to. Kinda interesting how ppl still do that. :) I remember when they delivered it too and it was on the back of a flat bed truck...I don't remember how they got them up the marble stairs though...

We didn't ship anything.

I have a friend who shipped a container (20ft) 3.5 years ago. The shipping cost them $2000 and they did use their one time, customs free pass.

They sent LOADS of stuff including several of each major appliance. Two to three each of stove, refrigerator, clothes washer and dryer. They had bought all these at a 220 volt store somewhere in Jersey I think she said, near where they lived there. At the time it was a better deal to buy all these things in America, the cost and quality was better. But since then Morocco's trade has grown and better quality, better priced major appliances are available. My friend said that if they were doing the move today they would not do the same since the items here have improved so much.

I can think of things I would like to have shipped over inshaAllah. One being a GOOD vacuum! and American style, quality made couches and bed mattresses.

Can't help you on this one, only shipped packages. But that alone is expensive enough. I imagine shipping furniture would be extremely expensive.

I don't know about large items but I was actually checking on shipping to/from Morocco today and it is insanely expensive ($300US for a 5lb package).

For packages my wife and I take a cruise ship (transatlantic) back to the US (we live in FL). The don't care how much luggage you have or have a weight limit.

It's a couple thousand to do this but then you get a vacation on top of it as well. Ships leave Europe in Oct/Nov/Dec.

no... sorry
