Is saying "PTOU" in Morocco a bad thing?

I picked this up from my American sil and I don't know which Moroccan she picked it up from....and I seem to do it quite often. Once, I did it in front of all my in-laws --they never here me say things in darija or anything (I'm too shy still--I know I make too many mistakes) and they just DIED laughing! Then my husband told me not to say it because it is like saying a bad word. But my sil says it all the time...I thought you do that to somebody that is doing something shameful or something. Has it become a bad word too, or did my dh not like me being the center of attention for a moment?

"PTOU": For those that don't know, think back to the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding and when the wedding guests did PTOU! when she was walking down the isle to rid her of the evil eye.

rofl...I use this way too often. Mostly in my own home when something ticks me off or I make a mess of something. When my husband stinks up the house I use it too, lol.

I think it is rude to use towards people...though my mother in law uses towards my husband when he stinks up her house too, rofl!

no it means nothing bad , i m sur of it , are the berber , if theyare berber maybe it can be bad word i dont know.
