Can you give me an idea how much apartments cost to own NOT rent in the larger cities in Morocco...?

An apartment on the smaller side -- not fancy -- I am talking about an apartment the average Moroccan would be happy to own as a first apartment. One/two rooms

I realize there are all types of ranges but I'm thinking of something on the smaller (cheaper lol) range as we will not be living there all year and may rent it out while we aren't there....and inshallah move on to something bigger or better eventually.

DH has asked people what they are going for now but I wanted to ask people on here too. If there are more details you need to know please ask and I'll add them tomorrow inshallah -I haven't been feeling well so I haven't been on here but I feel a little better today so inshallah I'll feel even better tomorrow. :)

Cities --any of these: Rabat, Agadir, Fes, Meknes, Tetouan, Tangier, Marrakesh....you get the picture.
Choukrane!

Barakallahfeek for your prayers and to everyone else that prayed for me too... :)

1-For cities as Rabat ,Casablanca, Tangier and Marrakech : about 10,000 to 12,000 DH each m虏.
Exemple an apart. measuring 100m虏 costs 1000,000 DH to 120,000,000 DH. It depends of the finishing touches ( High Standing) and of its situation and neighbouring.

2-Fes , Kenitra, Tetouan : between 6,000 to 8,000 DH/m虏.

3-In popular zones costs are lower : 3,000 DH/m虏
Prices are rising more and more each month!

May y koune bass!
Bi'chifae al 3ajil In chaa Allah!

Hi Fez: Just wanted to say Hi and am glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Sorry I can't answer your question but will be interested to read the answers :)
Take care and God bless.

I will speak for Agadir :-P
Right now you can buy an apartment brand new that is around 65-70 meters square for about 300,000 dirham. That would be about the cheapest.

To give you an example...we own one in Agadir that is a rental unit. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 & 1/2 bath, small kitchen and one salon. It is finished with ceramic tile throughout. the kitchen has upper and lower cabinets with a built in stove top and built in oven which the builder put in to all the units. It is really cute and I think a nice place for a couple or a couple with a small child.
On the other end of the apartment spectrum in Agadir we also own one that we live in. It is 90 meters square, finished by the builder with ceramic, marble, & granite throughout and equipped kitchen. We have it on the market for 1,300,000 dirham right now (another in our building sold for this a few weeks back).

You may be able to find something a little cheaper if you buy something that is a bit older. It would probably not have tile floors, cabinets in kitchen/bathroom or nice fixtures but that is all cheap to redo anyhow.

I just got back from Morocco where I was actually looking for exactly what you were looking for... a small apartment just outside the city (of Rabat for my wife and myself).

The price was betweenn 10,000 - 15,000DH (8DH/USD) per square meter on the outskirts in the cheaper areas. A small apartment is from 30 to 60 square meters.

That is how the apartments in Morocco are sold... xxx/DH per sq/meter then they will tell you how large the apartment is and you do the math.

Doesn't really make sense to me but I didn't have one developer that said the price of this apartment is XXX. It was always "we are selling these apartments for xxx/sq. meter and these are the sizes we have (usually either 2 or 3 sizes).

In Casablanca the prices were a little more and in Agadir they were more reasonable. I didn't check on the prices in Fez and in Marrakech.
