Does Montreal check ID?

My friends and I are most likely going to Montreal for a few days over March Break, however most of us are 17. I know the legal drinking/clubbing age is 18...but my friends seem to be under the impression that all of us will be able to get in :S. They all think that bars and clubs in Montreal don't check ID...personally I don't believe them...does anyone actually know for fact of nightclubs in Montreal that won't check ID? I hate to be a pessismist, I just find it really hard to believe that Montreal is some like magically place where no one checks IDs :P (as my friends seem to think lol)

They will check your ID, especially if you're part of a gaggle of girls all looking borderline in terms of age. If it's a bar or nightclub that you want to be in as a 17 year old girl, then it will an establishment that checks ID -- why would they want to risk losing their licence? ID checks will be all the more likely over the March break.

Sorry, Montreal is no different from other cities in Canada when it comes to policing minimum age.

of course they will, if they are found serving alcohol to minors its a huge fine .A risk they will not take for a group of underaged girls
these matters are under strict control in canada

Absolutely! They will check if you look underage. Also in Ontario the minimum age is 19 not 18 as in Quebec
