no free place in Montreal that I know but you could try the YMCA.Just hang arround st-catherine by walking from west to east between 10pm to 2 am and am sure you will find plenty of activity.

Other than downtown Montreal, all the rest of Montreal is boring.

there is the mountain, Mont Royal and also in the Plateau there are a bunch of really cool like thriftesc stores - they can be really cool also the restaurants N-D-G (around sherbrooke ouest)
