Insider scoop (trains, subway, etc.) for Montreal, QC?

I'll be traveling to Montreal in mid-April. We are staying downtown (Hotel Gault). Would love to know where I can find maps for train routes, subway maps, etc. Any and all true local advise such as the great little not-so-famous or expensive restaurants, etc. would be MOST appreciated!

Hey there

Enjoy your trip.
Check out the STM site (there is an engligh version)
You can buy a tourist pass for the metro and bus services.
If you are staying down town you can walk to many places.

In terms of restaurants there really are so many.

If you like smoked meat try Reubens on Ste Catherine

If you like vegetarian try La Commensal (many locations)

If you like Shish Taouk try Bhoustan on Crescent above De Maisoneuve.

If you like something different try Cafe Santropol (do a web search..)

If you like cheesecake try Calories near Atwater Metro again on Ste Catherine.

Good luck and have fun....

The STM is our transit system.
Here's their website :

http://stm.info/

It's bilingual and you can easily find bus routes and a map of the metro (subway).

I use Google maps to find out where things are too, very useful if you have the address but want to know where it's situated on the island.

Montreal its a wonderful city, i was living there for six months and it is really special, very easy and that's right try stm.com
good luck on yr trip, try all the restaurants and stores near of Mont-Royal park.

You can find some maps link at this website : http://123phototravel.blogspot.com/

Insider's scoop?!?

What do you think this is?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

In any event, click on the links below for more insider's info!

Insider tip #1: call it the Metro! Always!
Insider tip #2: Frites Alors on Parc, around St.Joseph I think. Then head up to St. Viateur for the bagels! (I personally prefer them over Fairmount Bagel, though for some reason there's debate about this).
