Can I wear a Bruins sweatshirt/jersey in Montreal? |
Hockey is religion in Canada (no doubt), but how about walking around Montreal with a Bruins jersey (or going to a Canadiens home game wearing one)... I'm afraid you risk being chased through the streets by angry Frenchmen, getting jerseyed (that means having the jersey pulled up over your head from the back, essentially blinding you), and then they will poke your tummy until you giggle like the pillsbury dough boy! I suggest you learn the giggle well as the poking might be endless! LOL Why wouldn't you be able to??? Hockey is NOT a religion (it's a sport), but hockey is very well known in Canada, no body will hate u if u wear a jersey that's not a Canadian team. If u go the a Canadiens game wearing one, it depends which team ur cheering for, but either way ppl would hate you for wearing a jersey that isn't the Montreal Canadiens. A Bruins jersey is fine....just don't wear a Senator's one. Of course you can wear a Bruins jersey here! You'll get some good-natured ribbing but that's about it. If you go to the game, have fun! That's what we always do. Just don't act like a leaf fan. They have got to be the most idiotic fans that I have ever encountered. We are really not that serious about hockey. If you wear a Bruins sweatshirt in Montreal, most likely it will not even be noticed. It might be noticed if you wear it to a game, but even there it wouldn't be a big deal. We do not mind it if people support their favorite team - good sportsmanship is alive and well in Canada. Hell no!!! Sure..anything better than a Leaf sweater.. We love the Habs... But we respect other fans... You won't have any problems here with your Bruins jersey. Expect to be booed at. If hockey is religion here, then I'm atheist. Sure you can wear a Bruins anything here. Not all Montrealers support the Montreal Canadiens, ya know! You will be fine. Canadians are not idiots like some Americans. NOOO DON'T unless you want to get beat up (jk) but DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT |
