Best gay club in montreal canada?

and is it english or french speaking?
thanks lol!
ken

I love the drug store...especially during the summer and pride. The drug store is on Ste. Catherine, in the heart of the village and it's 6 floors and 3 patios. They have a pub with pool tables in the basement, the main floor is more of a meet/greet/restaurant area and the top floors have different types of dance music pumping through. From the top patio and a few floors you can look out over the village and just enjoy the view. Also...because the place is so big...there are never any lines. I visit everytime I'm in Montreal, no matter who I'm with, because there's something for everyone. If you're just looking to dance though...go to Sky, Unity or Parking Lot.

If the timing suits you...try to get there for pride, or Diverscite as they call it. It always falls on the August long weekend and is the best Pride, Canada wide...it kicks Toronto's butt! though It may be just because they sell beer at corner stores and everyone walks around with a drink in their hand.

Take your pick, lol!

And it's probably mostly French speaking as it's located on the East side of Montreal since that is where the Gay Village is after all!

Good luck!

I haven't been in Montreal for awhile, but when I was there I checked out the Drug Store. It wasn't too bad. Quite large and a laid-back atmosphere. Most places are both English and French speaking. Montreal gets a lot of tourists and a lot of locals are anglo too. I thought the scene in Montreal was quite decent on the whole. As a woman though I found it hard because there wasn't a full-time women's bar/club. Only this Meow dance every month, which was VERY francophone and was in a tiny venue. Like anywhere, breaking into the scene can be difficult, but if you are just coming by for a drink or two on a weekend then it's fine and I am sure the gay men's scene is much bigger and more welcoming then the lesbian one.

You won't have any trouble in the village being english no. They are happy to take your money, they don't care where you are from. Not being rude, I lived there for years, they are not big on Americans. At Cabaret Mado she will say a few words to the Americans then cut them to shreds in french a second later. Anyway, besides the point. The village it at Metro Berri-Uqam, head east. It's huge, maybe 10 blocks long. Tonnes of bars. They change so fast. One is popular for some day of the week, wherever they have dollar drinks is what's popular. I loved "Le Parking" it's a multi level bar. There really are so many to mention. Just wander around and follow the music you like. Avoid "Club Rocky" it's a seniors home, have fun.

EDIT: Wow forgoy all about "Club Stereo" its just west of the village. It would be the 'best' gay bar. It's very NYC, owned by the "Industry of Sound" UK or something, it has changed hands a few times. Jr Vasquez is a resident, so was Carl Cox, I have partied with both Angeline Jolie and Drew Barrymore there on seperate occasions. It's not rare to bump into celebrities there, or Montreal really.

I'm not gay but I've been to Stereo and a lot of gays hang out there. I'd recommend it because the people there are great, AND their sound system is rated as being the second best in North America.

Oh P.S. There's an event called Igloofest this Saturday, a bunch of my friends are going. People of all sorts there, and the sound is GREAT.
