Best gay club in montreal canada? |
and is it english or french speaking? I love the drug store...especially during the summer and pride. The drug store is on Ste. Catherine, in the heart of the village and it's 6 floors and 3 patios. They have a pub with pool tables in the basement, the main floor is more of a meet/greet/restaurant area and the top floors have different types of dance music pumping through. From the top patio and a few floors you can look out over the village and just enjoy the view. Also...because the place is so big...there are never any lines. I visit everytime I'm in Montreal, no matter who I'm with, because there's something for everyone. If you're just looking to dance though...go to Sky, Unity or Parking Lot. Take your pick, lol! I haven't been in Montreal for awhile, but when I was there I checked out the Drug Store. It wasn't too bad. Quite large and a laid-back atmosphere. Most places are both English and French speaking. Montreal gets a lot of tourists and a lot of locals are anglo too. I thought the scene in Montreal was quite decent on the whole. As a woman though I found it hard because there wasn't a full-time women's bar/club. Only this Meow dance every month, which was VERY francophone and was in a tiny venue. Like anywhere, breaking into the scene can be difficult, but if you are just coming by for a drink or two on a weekend then it's fine and I am sure the gay men's scene is much bigger and more welcoming then the lesbian one. You won't have any trouble in the village being english no. They are happy to take your money, they don't care where you are from. Not being rude, I lived there for years, they are not big on Americans. At Cabaret Mado she will say a few words to the Americans then cut them to shreds in french a second later. Anyway, besides the point. The village it at Metro Berri-Uqam, head east. It's huge, maybe 10 blocks long. Tonnes of bars. They change so fast. One is popular for some day of the week, wherever they have dollar drinks is what's popular. I loved "Le Parking" it's a multi level bar. There really are so many to mention. Just wander around and follow the music you like. Avoid "Club Rocky" it's a seniors home, have fun. I'm not gay but I've been to Stereo and a lot of gays hang out there. I'd recommend it because the people there are great, AND their sound system is rated as being the second best in North America. |
