Why do other Mexicans consider people from Nuevo Leon to not be truly Mexican? |
Well what I meant by that is well i'm from Monterrey myself, and all the southerners say I'm not really Mexican...cuz I don't have obvious Indian features..and neither do alot of my family. As an expat in Torreon, Coahuila, I hear from Mexicans south of here that I don't really LIVE in Mexico..... part of this is because of the history of the region and part of it is that the lifestyle is somewhat different (more industry, more influence from the US, etc.) There is a lot of comparison, with Mexico City (DF) held up as the "real" Mexico as it is the center of ancient culture, the government, etc. It's really pretty petty stuff, as the country of Mexico has many different regions, each with its distinctive traditions and cultures and it would be better to celebrate ALL of them than to spend time trying to determine which is the "best" or the most "real." However, being human beings, we seem to like to rank everything and I suppose that this aspect of Mexican life is not going to disappear any time too soon. xx they talk half spanish half english. they use english words in their common sentences and stuff like that What do you mean? I think everyone that comes from New Mexico,Nuevo Leon, and anywhere over there are mexicans, dont listen to other people.People from Nuevo Leon are mexicans too. from wat i heard i c i will have no trouble blending in with them, ill b attending UDEM in couple of months...n will b living in campus.....i was worry of my Spanish..... Just because you are not uggly, the uggly people call you names its common for people from the south to criticize people from the north , i should know i live in juarez Por envidiosos!!!! |
