Want to know about rent rates in Mexico City?

Hi,
Am visiting Mexico City for six months. My workplace will be at, Prolongaci贸n Paseo de la Reforma 1240
Santa F茅, Cuajimalpa
05109 M茅xico, D.F.

Please tell me the prevailing rent rates for a private rental for Studio apartment in nearby areas. Also please let me know the cost of living in Mexico city. I am an Indian and would be interested in knowing Indian resturants in Mexico City.

Please suggest some websites where I can get detailed informations about these.

Thanks and regards,

Saurav

Mexico City Craigslist is a good place to start.

YOU ARE GOING TO WORK AT THE MOST EXPENSIVE PART OF MEXICO CITY, RENTS ARE HIGH, YOUR LOOKING AT 3000 FOR A SMALL UNIT. BEST BET GO TO CENTURY21 REALESTATE IN MEX, THEY WILL FINF SOMETHING TO FIT YOUR BUDGET

Ouch, Santa Fe? That's one (or perhaps the most) expensive neighborhood in the city. Expect to be spending 1000 dollars a month just renting an apartment.

Also, Santa Fe due to it's "prestigious" image, there is almost no public transportation (the last thing I'll ever see is the locals accepting something so 3rd world country as a subway being built in that area). If you live there long enough, better buy a used car or get used to mexican buses or risk yourself with DF pirate taxis if you don't know how to spot and thus avoid getting into them.

You're Indian as in from India right? You'll have a very hard time finding restaurants here that serve Indian food. The closest areas from where you'll be working that might have restaurants will be Polanco which is both hard to get to (because of traffic, travel distance, lack of direct public transportation and because the roads to connect both areas are a bunch of winding roads that go in zig-zag). Plus Polanco isn't a cheap neighborhood either.

If you're open to travel quite a bit, you'll probably be lucky in the south of the city like Coyoac谩n or Colonia Del Valle near the Mexico City WTC.

Oh, be prepared, you will stand out A LOT. People will be staring at you a lot because there's not a lot on Hindis that live here.
