Is the water in Mauritius safe to drink? |
Is the water in Mauritius safe to drink? As safe as the water you drink in your country. It's useless to spend your money on bottled water when you can buy souvenirs for your folks & pals with it. yes, you won't die but if you are not used to it it may cause "jarre" as the locals call it. Bottled water is cheap so might be a safer but. Mauritius is the only exotic long haul destination where you need no vaccinations. That could well be an indication that the water is pure to drink. I wouldn't advise you drink the sea water !! lol It is safe, but as you are not used to the water there you will get the runs etc. My mom went and so did a teacher of mine and both said that its safer to drink bottled water (which isn't expensive). Rather be safe than sorry and ruin a what will be a great holiday, because you got cramps and on the loo all day... Of course.. I returned from Mauritius about 2 weeks ago. It is not like Egypt or these similar types of countires.... I took my 15 year old son and the biggest annoyance in Mauritius are the mosqutioes.. the water is perfectly safe to drink. We needed no vaccinations whatsoever to go to Mauritius unlike most other countires I have visited... Hi yes it is, however if you're travelling around for day trips then it may be a good idea to carry a small bottle of water too. Happy travelling! |
