Car hire in Mauritius?

Looking to hire a car in Mauritius that has Sat Nav, anybody know where i may be able to get this? Also, would you even recommend driving in Mauritius - ie how dangerous is it, if at all.

we used the aboveweb site othire ours, and it is VERY easy to drive in mauritius, the drivers there are well mannered, and its actually fun. So be rest assured, and a map will get u ever where, gps doesnt work there yet. The island is so small, its hard to get lost. Also dont waste money on a driver, because u will be able to drive without a problem.

best to get chauffer driven from your Hotel its cheap and safe just back from there and outside the hotel complexes well you will see , i would not go about on my own !!! ps beautiful place people at hotel are fantastic enjoy

don't think cars have it yet it's a small island. in cities at peak hours it gets jammed also you have to be alert with the push bikes, loose dogs. a good road map is a must .when in doubts people will help you out.Enjoy.................

I went to Mauritius three years ago and hired a self drive car - something small like a Fiesta and it was cheap when compared with UK. We travelled all around the island and really enjoyed it. No problems with other traffic - roads are a bit rough but so what. How can you get round a country without wheels? Going next year and will hire a car again. The road maps are fine. If you feel you must have Sat Nav then take one with you.

:) well, being from Mauritius i can tell you that it's too easy to drive around. It's a small island so i dont thing they even have a map of it on gps..your best sat nav will be a local tourist guide for hire for about 200$ for 2 weeks or so...people in mauritius are so tourist friendly ..so just go there and have fun

yh deff not worth it. taxis and chauffers are better. you can get one with sat nav but you dont need sat nav in maritius. my uncle owns loads of hotels out there and they all recomend chauffers etc. its actually so cheap you waste money hiring a car. and its so small.
