ECR needed for Mauritius? |
I am planning to got o Mauritius for honeymoon. My Indian passport has ECR. Yes, you should get ECNR stamped on your passport before leaving outside India. Recently the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India have been simplified the criteria for ECNR status. Submit your passport along with attested copy of your educational certificates (matriculation or above) and you will get back your passport on the same day. Hey...check out this Press Release issued by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs dated 15-07-2007: Report It The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs has further liberalized the emigration system by extending the 鈥淓migration Check not Required鈥?(ECNR) status to 173 countries w.e.f 29th December 2006. Report It The Ministry has issued a notification under section 41 of the Emigration Act. Under the Emigration Act, 1983, anybody whose passport is endorsed as 鈥淓migration Check Required鈥?(ECR passport) has to obtain emigration clearance (in case of employment visa) Report It The Ministry has issued a notification under section 41 of the Emigration Act. Under the Emigration Act, 1983, anybody whose passport is endorsed as 鈥淓migration Check Required鈥?(ECR passport) has to obtain emigration clearance (in case of employment visa) Report It Now emigration clearance or suspension of emigration check requirement is necessary only in case of 18 countries in the world. Report It These countries are United Arab Emirates (UAE), The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, Libya, Jordan, Yemen, Sudan, Brunei, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Syria, Lebanon, Thailand and Iraq (emigration banned). Report It This means that if your Passport is stamped ECR, you can travel to Mauritius. If you are travelling to the above listed 18 countries where emigration clearance is necessary and if your Passport is stamped ECR; only then you will have to apply for ECNR Stamp. Report It Oops....The Press Release date is 15-01-2007 and not 15-07-07 Report It Stamping no more required for Mauritius Hi I had finished all pages so got my second passport in January.I read in the passport saying that from now there wont be separate ECNR requirement. That means ECNR is automatically included in the passport to whichever place requires ECNR all u need to do is when u go to buy airline tickets just ask travel agent to get ECNR done.Happy holiday ECNR, is the current rule: but, if you have time, safer to get it stamped by Passport Office: it is not difficult at all. Just apply for ECNR stamping. Mauritius anyway is not in the list for Ec. |
