How much would it cost to buy a house in the Maldives?

Not in the capital, but in this island they say no one wants to. that sounds like the life. Anyone have an idea?

at the moment. maldivian land law doesnt alow foreigners to buy land. hence you need work it out through a local name whom you can have understanding. but you can always rent places for any amount of period. to buy a small house in an island away from capital. it would be around US$20 - 50,000.
to rent it would be around US$500 per month

No, I have no idea, but if you buy one, will you rent a room out occasionally? I love the Maldive Islands.

Depends on if you buy it now or in the aftermath of global warming and its drowned under the ocean.

From my research only Maldivians can buy property (as it's buying land and land is so limited) so your best bet is to rent and typically the only way to rent is to be a worker as immigration is really tough on people who would just like to be there over a prolonged period without working.
