A well known Malaysian singer wants me to contibute 2 songs.....?

Here is a little detail about me.

I can really say I am a natural-born composer and I also write my own lyrics, but I am a self thought musician and I know guitar scaling and having understood the works well definitely I can handle the lead and bass guitar pretty well. This is not a mis-statement for many thought I can read music note, but I don't. Music flow just come naturally in me and many a time some are quite surprise how I am able to blend my guitar playing into known songs beautifully, knowing where to blend it in. I can sing very well too with a strong expressive voice and composing melodies and tunes just seem to come naturally for me.

I have a few originals songs. My touch is more of rockblues, rock ballad and slow rock.

Here is my problem :

1. I really want to contribute 2 of my songs to the singer. How would you advise me so that I will not be taken as a fool or be cheated of my blood, sweat and tears in coming up with original compositions for him ? TQ

There is a Malaysia organization in charge of protecting music copyright - the Music Authors' Copyright Protection (MACP) Berhad. Try to contact them for your inquiry.

There are a lot of things you need to consider b4 contributing your work of art. Be sure that the contracts signed are legit and that your name will be published in the artist's album. There are a lot of thieveing going around in song composition industry and before you give out any hint about your work, be sure to secure yourself first.

Anyhow, if you think you have what it takes to rock the musical scene, why not market yourself? Go to MySpace like what Chenelle did and she got herself discovered.

thats so great...i have few cousins of mine that sings in the pub as well mostly country and western, ballad and slow rock as well...anyway...i feel you should try out, no harm trying but always sign a legal contract with them, if not you can always bring them to court cause u have prove its YOUR SONG...gud luck...wats your name by the way..i may know you...heehhe !

patent your song and sign agreement with him/her to protect your interest.

u could go to Hitz fm and look for the popular DJ/singer Jason Lo.
he's a nice guy and owns a record company.
try to discuss this thing with him.
